Becoming a Life Coach with the Beautiful You Coaching Academy...

My personal experiences + 3 months free coaching with me as a proud affiliate

In 2020, during the height of Melbourne’s second wave of lockdowns, I studied life coaching with the Beautiful You Coaching Academy (BYCA).

I had always been interested in life coaching, and had often thought that I’d like to get trained in it “one day”.

I love working with people one on one, holding space and listening to people to allow them to come to their own insights, and being a genuine, enthusiastic cheerleader for people's own decisions and life goals.

So being a life coach seemed to be a natural match for my strengths… strengths that at that point in my life I hadn’t even realised were strengths, thinking instead that surely everyone must like this…!

And a good friend of mine had studied with Beautiful You, so I knew that if I was to become a life coach, this was the training school for me.

I loved Beautiful You’s soft yet practical vibe right from the very outset.

Many of the other life coaching schools I’d looked at were go, go go and push, push, push, which made me feel exhausted just reading their websites...

But with a background in women’s circle facilitation, I know the power of gentle and thoughtful approaches, supported with a strong practical framework, and Beautiful You embodies this style to a tee.

So after signing up (early -- to get the awesome bonuses! Which I highly recommend if you want to!), I received in the mail my beautiful coaching manual and workbook.

How novel it is to receive something in the mail and to have hardcopies to refer to throughout a training course. So novel and soooo lovely!

So during the six months of the course, I would take my coaching manual and workbook out into the garden and have a cosy picnic for one -- and read, reflect, write, listen to the audios and have a lovely time generally with all of the course content. Of which there is A LOT!

Study session with the roses, a crystal and the BYCA manual...

I thought I already knew a lot about working with people and women after, at that point in time, almost five years of personal and professional development in the women’s wellness field.

I was so wrong! There is always so much more to learn and the modality of life coaching is definitely a field and skill all of its own.

The Beautiful You trainers very much encourage you at the outset to have a beginners’ mind, and I am so glad they did to allow me to be open to soak in all the incredible wisdom and goodness contained in the Beautiful You Life Coaching training course. Thinking I already knew it all would have been so detrimental to my learning and growth.

I also went into the course thinking I already knew who I wanted to work with and why, and that I just need a piece of paper or a qualification to formalise it…

Again, how wrong I was!

In the course content and worksheet exercises, the trainers really invite you to drill down into what YOU offer and who you really want to be working with, which helped me to side step both comparisonitis and anxiety as I got crystal clear on who I'm a good match to work with.

A totally not set up and natural coaching session... ;-)

This was so enlightening for me because it ended up being SO different to what my mind thought on who I’d be best to work with and on what life coaching topics.

I discovered that I really enjoy and my coaching style is a good match to work with women who are stepping into their holistic health and healing gifts in some way, whether this is in EFT, naturopathy, life coaching, conscious dance, women’s circles, kinesiology or another allied health and/or alternative modality, and are needing support as they navigate this very exciting and expansive time of transition from their previous profession to a totally new field.

Which was a total surprise to me, but also in many ways it makes perfect sense, as it’s been a long journey that I have myself been on.

And if I can share what I know, provide my support and help make this journey MUCH smoother for the next wave of women stepping up to help and to heal, then I'm honoured and thrilled to do so.
